30 lbs GONE!!

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

Today was a great weigh in day: I hit 30.0 lbs lost, and my BMI is under 30 which means I'm no longer obese!! emoticon I believe the last time I was at this weight was 2007.

This week, I went over my calorie range 5 days out of 7. I had my sister's birthday party and Thanksgiving dinner, which were both very challenging. I didn't go "all out", but I indulged enough that I didn't feel deprived or left out. I knew it had been a rough week, so yesterday I was determined to have a GREAT day to boost my chances of having a happy weigh in this morning. I planned all my meals and snacks and entered them into my nutrition tracker before starting my day. I went fairly light on carbs. I had 10 glasses of water. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill (walk/jog), a 60 minute walk outside, a 45 minute bootcamp class, and 15 more minutes on the treadmill. Overkill? Perhaps. But I don't do this every day, and I just wanted to feel like I did everything I could possibly do for at least one day. This morning I lost 2.0 lbs, and I felt SO great!

I've been running outside instead of on the treadmill lately. Yesterday was the first time in a long time I ran on the treadmill, and I discovered that going at the same 4.5 mph pace that I used this summer felt too easy! I bumped it up to 5.0 mph and it felt completely comfortable. 30 pounds ago, 5.0 mph felt impossible. I'm hoping that once I get to my goal weight I'll be up to 6.0 mph. I downloaded the couch to 10k program on my iPod so that I can start training. My goal is to run the 10k in the PEI Marathon in October 2014.

I want to give a BIG shout out to my BLC23 team - the Sunset Stingrays! emoticon I am SOO happy I joined this 12 week challenge. My teammates and the posted challenges have played a HUGE part in keeping me motivated and helping me lose weight. I would highly recommend it to any of my Spark Friends who are looking for some extra support. (Although BLC24 probably won't be starting until the New Year.)
