Sweating up a storm but??

Monday, October 14, 2013

Ok I finally worked back up to doing longer workout dvd's. I have been doing a lot of 3 miles walks with Leslie Sansone WATP's and The Biggest Loser walks with Bob. I wore my Spark Tracker and was working my ass off, sweating all over my t-shirt. I was so disappointed to find that the tracker only credited me with 1.49 miles in the 49 mins doing the "Fast Four Miles". I get more miles and steps just going for a walk for that length of time. I figure since it isn't all walking but kicking, side steps etc., it isn't counting that stuff. But you jog (boosting walking) in this dvd, so does it come up short for those that jog or run on a regular basis? Those that have used LS dvd's understanding that even the 3 mile advance walks can be tough. All of my 3 mile walks are intermediate or advanced as is the FFM. Wondering how little credit I will get when I am back up to the 5/6 mile indoor walks.
When I used my watch pedometer I use to come up a little bit short like .20 miles but this is just not showing really how much I am working out again. emoticon
Jeff has been home for the last couple of days. He worked on his truck, which broke down last week when he was working about 25 miles from home. He had to AAA bring it home. The truck is 10 yrs old and a fuse blew because of a bad wire. All working ok now. He worked on my vette again because the right turn blinker stopped working. Normally a sign that you need to replace the blub. He replaced it but it still wouldn't work.
So now I have to use old time arm signal when making a right turn. How many people even know what those are anymore?? Someone waved at me the other day when I did it! LOL
I have an appointment tomorrow with the Endo doctor to talk about my thyroid. Will see what happens with that, if they want to do a biopsy or not on the questionable spots they found. TTY later all.

I have that problem with the elliptical trainer versus the treadmill. Sometimes a pedometer will not accurately register steps if there too much of a climb component.

Good luck with your appointment...keep us posted.
I don't have the SP tracker, but I do know my pedometer is sometimes off. Good for you for working out so consistently! Keep up the great work!

Don't know about those tracking monitors but as for the turn signals that is almost a norm here where I live. I see it all the time and it is not just older people doing it it is also the young doing it too. I did have to laugh about them waving back to you at least they did not give you the one finger salute that sometimes happens.

Sparkpeople's fitness tracker does have various values for mph walked, you can go right up the scale. But nothing is as accurate as having a GPS watch and walking outside to really know how fast you are going as there is no hedging in either distance or time. I found that my GPS website gave me the same calories burned per distance and speed as Spark's tracker, so was quite pleased with it. I don't know that DVD's are always that accurate with their time listed. It would be really interesting to know if indeed they really go a mile because everyone has different step lengths so what are they going on when you are walking in place and distance cannot be measured??
The best measure is listening to your body anyway. You know when you have gotten a good one in.
    Keep up the great work!!

Hmmmm, did it count that you were doing cardio at least? I'm not sure it is worth it if it isn't counting your LS steps. Mine is about a third of the steps off consistantly, my pedometer, whether I do LS indoor walking or outdoor walking on a measured trail.... It doesn't take me long to type my fitness into SP, so thinking it just ain't worth it to me! Be careful with no blinker. I doubt many people know at all what the hand signals mean... Good luck at the doc! I think my thyroid levels are off. Need to make an edno appt!

I am just walking right now and spent about 30 mins in the grocery store today. It didn't count any of the walk as continuous so with the slow walk, it may not be accurate wither. I just find that I have been consistently underestimating my steps! So I am glad I have it to help at that.

Good luck with your appointment tomorrow. Hoping all is good! emoticon emoticon emoticon
