Getting back on plan....

Monday, October 14, 2013

After going on a business trip over last Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I am having a great deal of trouble getting back on plan. Not that my eating was great while gone. It could have been a lot better. I just can't get myself into better eating mode that I had been in before. Where has all of my ambition gone and motivation for that matter?!?!
I really need to focus more on this and try to ignore all of the cravings I've been having! And I need to do more exercise, and not just cardio, but streight training also! I just need to find the motivation for both!
What is everyone else doing?! And please keep in mind that my online time is limited and I have a full time job and a full time home job also, keeping my family in line. HELP!!
I just ate a king size bag of M&Ms and now I'm feeling extremely guilty!! I knew I shouldn't have but it was there right in front of me and I just couldn't stop myself!! I've gained amost 30 pounds in the last couple of months!! My clothes are starting to get tight!
What can I do?!

I think that we all have gone through a similar situation at some point. We know what we have to do but is hard to do it. Try to do a different type of exercise…something that is fun and that you enjoy like a Zumba class. Join the gym and go with your friends or husband. Try to join or form a walking group is you like walking or sign up for a emoticon walk for benefit or race, if you like running. All those things motivate. The eating healthy will come after soon after you feel your body tighten up or drop a few pounds.

Julie, my heart goes out to you.

You asked how others are doing it. I, myself went through what you are but a year and a couple months ago I decided enough is enough. After reading several blogs by ~KREN about sugar and how bad it is for us...I decided to STOP all sugar...except hidden sugar and nothing that had over 5 grams of sugar for a serving. So Sept 1, 2012 I stopped cold...didn't know for how long. But I started feeling SO much better and even my joints and all areas of life felt month turned into another and Sept 1, 2013 I celebrated 1 year sugar FREE...and I will never go back. I plan to stay this way always. My doctor loves it!

Now, perhaps it is not for everyone but it did great for me...and obviously I am enjoying it! You could possibly try a "sugar fast" for 3 or 7 or 10 or 14 days to see if it helps...I am finally actually believing that I WILL make maintenance (I WILL) and finish!

I agree with Michele, Julie. It is one day at a time. That is a big workload, full time job and family. Maybe it is becoming overwhelming for you right now. Just don't forget to add yourself into that potpourri!!!

Do you need to have large bags of goodies in the house? Can you get away with single size servings so that if you get a craving you only eat a small package? You can also try to savor each piece by stopping, looking at it, smelling it and then putting it in your mouth and really tasting it before you actually eat it slowly. It might help. You have done it, so I am sure that you will again! emoticon Let's do it together!

It's just 1 day at a time. One of those "Just for today I will (fill in the blank).

And, of course, beating yourself up over it isn't going to do you any good. Look at how much you've LOST! It's emoticon ! So you KNOW you can do it!
