Inspiration for Today

Monday, October 14, 2013

This is a link to a video interview with a man who finished the Chicago marathon in a little over 16 hours. His encouragement to all of us is, "If you dream it ,make it happen. Your life is the most beautiful thing that can happen to you. So, make the best of it."
He finished around 1:30am. I am in awe of his determination.

Have a healthy week one and all.

    This is so wonderful.

It reminds me of an Olympic Hero we had here in the UK a number of years ago called Eddie (the Eagle) Edwards. He had a lifetime ambition to compete in the ski jump in the winter Olympics. Now although as a country we usually do pretty well in the summer Olympics the UK has notoriously performed pretty badly in the winter Olympics. Generally because we do not have very much snow and our winter temperatures are not low enough for long enough to practice many winter sports.

Eddie's ambition was a simple one - to compete in the 90 metre long jump and NOT come last. He got 91st out of 92 competitors and instantly became a British hero. He is still today loved and respected over here where he regularly performs ceremonial openings etc.

This Venezuelan guy oozes that sheer greatness and it is what taking part in these events is really all about.

I love the story about never give up. Remind me of Japanese proverb "Fall 7 time, get up 8".
