If I could live my life over...

Friday, October 11, 2013

If I could live my life over, I would have:

*practiced memorization by memorizing passages from the Bible and other books.

*been more kind, volunteered regularly, and made gratitude and love my way of life.

*never spoken negatively about anyone, and instead would have made it my practice to see only the good in others.

*never complained about anything.

*lived more simply with less things.

*never become a consumer.

*taken more physical fitness classes or sports.

*taken Speech classes in school and joined the Toastmasters club.

*joined teams that required discipline.

*taken more art classes.

*stuck to drinking only water and never have tasted a flavored drink.

*never smoked (I'm so glad I quit 18 years ago!).

*resisted peer pressure.

*loved my body for its faithful service instead of hating myself for so long.

*worked hard (and only 6 days per week), even if it were for no pay.

*created more.

*done something every day that gives my life purpose and meaning.

*slept on a regular schedule.

*bought a fountain pen and several colors of ink long ago!

*learned to write awesome letters that are gifts to the people I care about, and would have never resorted to email.

*learned to love plain food without a lot of salt. skipped the sauces. made colorful food my main diet, eaten less colorful food in moderation, and skipped the junk food.

*said "yes" to all the things that make me a better person.

*been true to myself and not worried about the people who criticize and gossip.

Hmmm...I don't know if I should continue to add to this list, or if I should begin to see how many I can make my habit now, before the list gets any longer!

I think I'll choose the latter.

What about you? What would you change if you could live your life over again?

I wish that I had taken better care of my body. I can't change the past, but I can work toward a better future.

As you said you can start doing some of those things now. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow has yet to arrive. We have this "present moment". Life is a journey to learn about ourselves. All those things that we have done and not done have made us who we are today. Let us live this day to the full! emoticon emoticon

Beautiful and inspiring list--thanks for sharing it.
If I could live my life over there are a lot of things that I would do different and the biggest one would be to know most things I have worried about didn't really matter in the end.

Thanks for sharing such personal thoughts. My biggest regret is probably that i have allowed fear to dictate too many of my decisions. There is not the space here to share what i mean, but suffice it to say that i have allowed myself to be governed too much by what others might think.

While I do have regrets, I am not so much holding to them as I am looking at the changes I can make and things I still have the opportunity to do while I yet live.

I'm excited about the future and am finding more ways each day to express myself, to show my gratitude for life, and to share goodness with others. emoticon

After all, what's the point of looking back if we don't change because of it?

I would have learned about how my body works sooner rather than later.

Probably the biggest change would be exercising regular and eating healthier
I wasted so much of my life looking and feeling unhealthy

I have a lot of similar things I wish I would have done differently, but we can't live in the past. it only holds us back. Look toward the future and when these opportunities come to do what we wish we did in the past, we have the chance to do now and stop regretting and feeling good about it instead.

I try not to make a list and just start doing things now. Better just to move forward and make the positive changes we can and make every day better. I volunteer at a food pantry every Saturday, I try and get out and run and work out and get healthier. I try and encourage my kids to have a healthy lifestyle. Just get out there and live in a positive way and do the best you can! I really don't regret my past, it has made me who I am today.
