Size "3"

Thursday, October 10, 2013

Yesterday I was running a few errands, and went to a nearby mall to buy some computer ink. Suddenly I noticed a store selling a GORGEOUS sweatshirt jacket, with high collar and puffy feminine sleeves.
[Explanation aside:] Sizes here in Israel come in 4 variations:
1) American sizing on stuff from there
2) European-style sizing (32-34-40--42--etc)
3) Small, M- L-XL etc
4) a simplified sizing of 1-2-3-4-5. Size 4 is about a size 46-48. Most stores only carry to size 4, and many things are only up through size 3 . ( I was thrilled a year and a half ago when I finally fit into a size 4, that meant that many more clothes/stores were available to me..)
NSV: I went into the store, but they had the sweatshirt jacket only in sizes 1-2-3. So I tried a size three. It was a BIT tight... I am still basically a size 4... but I WAS able to buy it. Also last week I went into a store that has VERY classy stuff, and was able to get something VERY nice. I used to only WISH that I could buy there....... (Still won't do it often, they ARE expensive... but this was end of season sale stuff.
BTW here are my blogs from a year ago on end-of-season sales (the second one was already here on SPARK).:

I also find all the different sizes confusing! That jacket sounds so soft and comfy and still very stylish! I know you'll enjoy wearing it! Great NSV and enjoyable blog as well!

Congrats on the NSV!! Here in the U.S. we have many different sizes too. Depends on the store. The main store in my town that sells the 1, 2, 3 sizing you are talking about is Chicos. When I started out I couldn't even dream of wearing something from chicos. Basically a size 12 equals a size 2 at chicos. Well I'm now between a 1 and a 2.
