Very successful running week

Sunday, October 06, 2013

A very good running week for me as I slowly get back into ideal running condition. A total of 12 miles, ran Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, so a good test of the Achilles tendon. No issues! I'm right around a 10 minute mile, obviously want t lower that, but I promised myself I would get there slowly and not reinjure the tendon.

Pretty sure I am going to run in the "Panther 5K Run/Walk" on 10/26, which benefits our local high school's AFROTC. The run is at one our local country clubs which I have not been to before, so in addition to running I'll definitely check out green fees, course layout, etc. A 10/26 date gives me 3 more weeks to get ready to run my first timed race in over 4 months.

Happy Sunday everyone. GO BRONCOS!!

Way to go! I irritated my Achilles in May and it took a while before I was able to get back to the same mileage. I am still working on getting back up to speed.

Stay healthy and keep up the recovery!

12 miles per week is plenty of base to prepare for a 5K. Train well, go easy enough that you don't re-injure the Achilles tendon, and have fun!

    Your doing wonderful Patrick!
Wouldn't even know you had an injury. I am sidelined a bit with the running aspect as my toes have been hammered and my nails falling off. This is not fun for a lady with an image to upkeep. LOL!
Anyhow I am keeping busy and loving my boxing and other classes.
    Take care and keep running!

Wonderful news! So happy to hear you are recovering from your injury and are able to get back out there and run!

I've finally reached a weight where my knees will let me run 3-5 miles 2-3 times a week without patellar pain. I'm still really slow, but it feels SO GOOD to be able to even run at all! Oh endorphin high, how I've missed you.....
