Coconut water on the rocks!

Friday, October 04, 2013

Friday night came and went and I stuck to my challenge goals and no alcohol entered my system - treated myself to coconut water on ice! The cravings were there to have a wine as I've programmed myself over a lifetime to have a drink on Friday night, but I did not - yippee!
So all is good in this camp.

Yesterday I craved coffee also all day but again I didn't cave in. I went from one craving of coffee throughout the day to the craving for wine in the evening! I know I have full control and power over my cravings so they will not beat this little chickadee! It is all psychological and I am master over my thoughts.....

One of my favourite books is 'battlefields of the mind' by Joyce Meyer. I have read that through quite a few times during my lifetime and this challenge is no different.

So with that said here is what roasted dandelion root herbal tea looks like and no caffeine!

This particular variety has 22 calories per serve but I am ok with that. I think the calories vary between brands etc. This is the 3rd week now that I have all my teas black (no sugar, no milk). Prior to that I used to use stevia as the sweetener as it is 100% natural plant product and not those fabricated artificial sweeteners that are sooooo bad for you. (That's another reason why I never drink diet soda as it's full of the bad stuff). So if you haven't heard of stevia (which is relatively new around the place) then I highly recommend it. It also works in all recipes that require sugar and the best thing is - NO CALORIES and NO TOXINS!

So those are my little tips to pass on today.

Meanwhile I have spent the morning in the garage preparing for the garage sale which is a few weeks away but there are two house loads to go through and sort out (mine and my parents). Mum has made great progress on her house and came with a car load full today already so a lot of progress is being made in this area.

Other than that I plan to have a quiet and relaxing day today - amongst many other chores I did the lawn mowing yesterday - the yard is starting to look real nice and much like the vision I had 8 years ago. When I moved in there was nothing but lawn - being the gardener that I am I set about my vision and here are some photos of what one section is now looking like. Much love, patience and money went into this and it is now becoming the sanctuary that I envisaged in my mind from the start. I put the fence in late last year which separates the front of the yard from the back, so if need be I can lock the dogs out the back so they are not under peoples feet etc when I have friends over. These pictures are of part of the back section.

Have a great day today everyone and thank you muchly for all your support of the important health challenges I am setting for myself. I love SP even more and more each day..... many of you are inspiring me with your own challenges and personal progress as well.

We can do this!!

When you're done with your garden, I have about 17 hectares that I've been fighting with for the last 5 years. I can really use some help. emoticon emoticon

That is fabulous how you are overcoming your cravings!! Great job!! If you are looking for an alternative sweetener to the artificial stuff, honey is always good or agave which I like because of the lower glycemic index.
