Tips from Mariah #1

I really don't think that I am the best person to give anyone tips but I have learned some really great things that have helped me in my journey to lose the weight.

When I started back in June I already knew that I was super serious this time. I thought I was serious the other times but this feeling is just different. It has proven to be true for me. I have lost 40 lbs over the last few months. I still have 68 to go but wow 40! If you look at my tracker I only try and enter my weight once a week so it is not reflected yet.

One of the most helpful things this time as compared to the other times is to be completely honest with myself and my friends. When someone notices that I am losing weight I tell them thank you. Then I continue to spew TMI. I let everyone know that I started at 283 and I have lost 40 lbs so far. I let them know that I am proud of myself but there is still work to do. I even tell strangers when I hear them talk about dieting or losing weight.

I would never tell anyone what I weighed in the past so this was a huge step for me. It really made me accountable. It also makes me realize how big I had become that I didn't want to share my weight with anyone. I am 6 feet tall so hardly anyone believed that I had weighed that much at my highest but I did.

I went on the white board in my office and wrote out the following rewards -
250 - lounger chair or bike
225 - $200 clothing shopping spree
200 - Girls weekend
175 - full blown vacation
When people come in and ask about it, I am completely honest and let them know those are my rewards.

So that being said, my tip for today is to be open. It is so much better and more successful going on this journey with others. My friends and co-workers watch out for me. They know how important this is to me. They jump up and down with me when I hit a goal. They tell me I am looking fabulous on Facebook. Don't be scared to be open and honest because it comes with so many rewards.
