Follow-Up Thoughts

Wednesday, October 02, 2013

Yesterday, I posted a thought regarding Paul's thoughts in 1 Corinthians 3. The verses that i found myself focusing on yesterday were 16 & 17. In those verses we are reminded that we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit as believers in Jesus Christ. It seems that the apostle was trying to counteract the belief taught by some that it didn't matter what we did with our bodies as long as our souls and minds were "right with God".

It seems that this same heresy has crept into some parts of the church. It manifests itself with the idea that it doesn't matter how i live since my eternal destiny is secure. While i am confident in God's ability to save my soul, i am also confident that He expects me to submit my life fully to His will. After all, He has made us the "temple of God".

There is a lot more i would like to say on this issue, but i don't want to bore you with a lengthy blog post today.

It's my hope and prayer that those of us who claim the Name of Christ will allow Him to transform our lives through the work of the Spirit so that our lives point the world around us to the love that the Creator has for us all.

The so-called Christians who live this feel-good lifestyle simply don't read Scripture. "Everyone who makes a practice of sinning practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that He appeared to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin. No one who abides in Him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen Him or known Him."
    1 John 3:4-6

Do Christians sin after conversion? Of course; every day! Can a Christian choose to "make a practice do sinning?" Nope. Scripture is clear; this person is not a Christian.
