I DON’T WANT TO
A lot of times when we don’t want to do something, we don’t do it. We find reasons and excuses to justify our feelings and decide it’s okay not to do it. We may not want to do it because set in our ways, or we are selfish or stubborn. Sometimes we just don’t want to deal with the people involved. However, we are told in the Bible to love and help others no matter what. We are told to show mercy to others and forgive. When we show mercy to others, God shows mercy to us.
Matthew 5:7 “God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us to stop thinking only about ourselves and what we don’t feel like doing. We can always talk ourselves out of doing something because we don’t feel like dealing with the people involved or the situation. Help us, today, Lord to be good, love others and help others no matter if we feel like we don’t want to. Help us to want to show mercy to others today and to step forward to help them as You have commanded us to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
If we continue to ignore those who need help, we are telling God that we want to do things our own way rather than His way.
Doing something for someone else even when we don’t feel like it will give us opportunities we may never get to experience again.
When we don’t feel like doing something that will help someone, we need to ask God to direct us to move forward to help them and give us His strength.
Showing mercy to others is way we can share God with them.
God doesn’t tell us to help others if we feel like it. He tells us to help others – period.
Romans 15:2 “We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.“ (NLT)
