It's hard to be the best grandma without the best grandpa here...

Life has gotten complicated!

To put the right perspective on what my life is right now, I need to preface this by saying that about a month ago, I fell on my face (but mostly on my right knee), having tripped over a toy in the garage. A week ago, the rubber on my shoe caught on the floor at Walmart, and I fell, right in front of God and everybody, injuring the other knee. My older sister used to call me (during those dreaded clumsy years of adolescence) Miss Grace... don't think I'll be telling her about my new incidents.

Anyway - now, with two very sore knees (especially when touched, but also when I walk), I'm being full-time grandma... all three children are here... and I LOVE BEING GRANDMA! but I've found it's much easier to do when Grandpa is here, too!

Hubby is in Arizona for the next 1 1/2 weeks on business... (I'm super tired due to not getting hardly any sleep before I took him for his early flight.)

My brother who lives 8 hours away in Michigan had quadruple bypass surgery today, so I've been trying to stay updated via fb and caring bridge....

And, all three children came this afternoon...

Akyrie (age 6) went home early from school with a 103F fever... thankfully, she was feeling better when she got here (went to bed with a headache and some tylonal).

Andrew (almost 5) came in as normal ("Grandma, can I blow up a balloon? can I play a game? can I have a peanut butter samich (interpreted, sandwich)? can we watch a movie? - well, that was just the first 3 minutes, but that gives you the idea!

Baby Benjamin (20 months old), came in with hugs and busyness - as usual! Well, usually the cat gets the first hug, but I did today! And with siblings here, he's into whatever they are... which usually makes it a bit easier!

It's been a very busy evening! The kids helped make supper, we got baths in, read a story, got baby to bed, watched a short video, colored online (AND printed it out - why print it out when you can actually color with real crayons and paper?), they played on my cell phone... I warned them that tomorrow, we're doing REAL things... lol

Well - to save you the long boring vent - and to get to go to bed quicker - let's just say that they're all asleep in bed! and I'm exhausted!

Oh - did I mention that I forgot to take my meds this a.m.... must NOT do THAT again! especially the pain pills! LOL

I also got reminded that I needed to get a "report" (Prayer Letter) in by today - totally forgot! Got to get that in on Monday! I still need to get a lot of materials ready for the Orientation that my hubby is leading - which starts Thursday, but needs done earlier so they can get them copied and collated.

Anyway - my knees are killing me, I'm tired, - and venting.. sorry!
Heading to bed! WITH pain pills! :) and I don't want to forget tomorrow at all!

Good night!

Two of my grandkids have been living with me for 5 years now - with their mom and dad - and even though their parents maintain control, I know how busy and chatty they can be, and so how tiring. But I wouldn't trade it! Isn't it great being a Grandma?

Oh my, you are really going through it, I'm so sorry that you are in such pain from your falls, hope you enjoy the grandkids and your knees settle down, please don't forget the pain meds, they will hopefully help you tomorrow. I agree with Susie, board games and reading stories is a great idea, and maybe some coloring or what about play-dough, I have a great recipe` I make for my grandkids, the 2 older ones would probably enjoy, another idea, what about the kids making paper bag puppets and put on a puppet show for you...Anyway hope your day is better... emoticon
