Event Report - Fall Foliage Bike Tour
Friday, September 27, 2013
Shhh. Hey there. Wanna get the same buzz and camaraderie as a race without the competition? Sign up for a bike tour. This one went though scenic farm countryside. All paved roads, some hills but nothing too steep or terrible. Route was well marked (but be careful, this is not always the case!) and on roads that were so sparsely traveled the local DPW hadnt even bothered to stripe them.
This was a charity ride in support of Catholic Charities and a local animal rescue operation that (among other things) had some rescued camels. The local bike group uses the road that goes past their farm as one of the regular rides and have adopted the camels as something of a mascot. So part of the money goes to support the camels as well.
My sister and I went with me and it was stupid fun. We completed 20 miles in exactly 2 hours...although total time was 2:15 because we stopped to pet the camels and take some pictures.
I've gotten a couple emails from Sparkers with the "Hey, where did ya go?" question. Basically, I started a new job (as mentioned before) and its just swallowing my time. I'm "running hard" to stay in place right now.I've done almost no exercise since starting. I have been focusing on good eating and managing my stress, getting to bed on time etc. I also dont want to sacrifice family time, so exercise and sparking have been cut back. I promise to get back eventually!
Enjoy the pretty picture in the meantime.
