Pumpkin all the things!!!

Friday, September 27, 2013

It's that time of year! I LOVE AUTUMN! Not just because of pumpkin (although that is a big bonus!), but the cooler weather, less rain than spring, and the smells outside are sooooo nice!

Last night, we had mahi mahi baked with some dill, salt and pepper for dinner with parmesan & herb angel hair pasta. No veggies last night because someone needs to visit the store again.
I kept my pasta portion pretty reasonable despite wanting a giant plate full of it...
My sis and her family have not had mahi mahi before and liked it enough to suggest buying it again and even seemed open to my suggestion of putting it on the grill. She came up with the idea of using it in salad instead of tuna.

I made the 2-ingredient pumpkin muffins yesterday, one box of spice cake mix and one can of pumpkin and they turned out really yummy. My treat yesterday was one of those with a little blob of cream cheese frosting on it. My beau had his with cinnamon frosting and I think...no, I KNOW he ate a few of them. Hah! The fiber will do him some good!
I'm not too fussed about the sugar in the frosting, I didn't lather it on like I would have in the past (or eat it out of the container!), it was just a dab and it was just sweet enough that I didn't sit and eat hard candy until bedtime which has been a problem as of late....

My beau and I got some cuddle time and watched a movie last night after dinner. Oblivion, with Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman, it was pretty good, the plot was a bit predictable, but it was still pretty good. I also watched a lot of Through The Wormhole with Morgan Freeman yesterday while I worked on the crocheted blanket for my youngest daughter's Christmas present....I wonder if Morgan knows just how awesome his voice is, lol!

I got a bunch more applications filled out online yesterday and I feel like I am running out of places to find job postings. Even the Illinois unemployment website is not showing many new postings and the ones that are coming up are requiring college degrees.
I even spent over an hour filling out an application in the next town over (good thing I know the buses now!) for a part time job which I doubt I am really qualified for (Its at a college, lol)
The application filling-out is to the point that I am just clicking and filling, I have no idea of which companies that I applied to...I am going by position and location now. Location being anywhere that is within 1.5 hours one way of a bus ride.

The car situation is the same. I *should* have one by Halloween. The bills (other than the storage locker) are just going to have to be a bit late for awhile, a car is priority right now.

I think I might need a new battery for my scale. When I got on it this morning (I am one of those people who weigh every day), it didn't do anything, then told me to step on, then it said err, then 0.0lbs, then err, and finally told me that I gained 8 pounds since yesterday, lol
Guess it is just trying to keep things interesting for me...as if life wasn't interesting enough!

Take care and love yourself.

Hope all your job hunting pays off soon. I like fall too. It is wonderful to see the colors on the trees. We will probably be at our peak in about two weeks. Blessings! emoticon

I love Autumn too,as we call it here. The air has a bite to it. Never ever ate pumpkin in any shape or form. I must give it a go. Hope you get that car soon.

Are you such your scale wasn't saying Aargh! as in talk like a pirate day?
    I guess not. Err err...!

Everytime you say you'll have a car by Halloween, I keep seeing
in my mind's eye an orange little round car with a Jackolantern face on it.
Hey if the price was right.

My friend that is working on my house in town just gave away his rental house in Des Moines to his Uncle and wife, elderly who are living there! He says the rent they paid was $35,000 in last 5 years, and he paid $32,000. Just gave them the house!!!
So I sort of wish someone would just give you a decent running car.
That is what I am praying for.

You can tell this friend is something special in this world, can't you?
I've never met anyone like him. He helps so many people. And no, he doesn't have much money to give away. Just a hard worker.
