Slowly Progressing

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

So today some what marked the beginning of several changes that have been happening in my life. I started a new job, and with that I have been thinking more and more about trying to get healthier and lose some of my excess weight that I don't want to carry around anymore.

With my new job I won't be driving anymore, I will be taking public transportation which is great because I hate driving. Once I get off at my stop I have to walk about 5 blocks or so to get the my job so essentially I am being forced to get some sort of movement in my day. Sad that I have to be forced to get up and move, my motivation is seriously lacking these days. Anyways it got me thinking that these are all such positive changes that I really want to make voluntary positive changes that will allow me to get healthier.

-Stop smoking all together
-Track my calorie intake
-Choose healthier foods
-Get moving more

The first one seems to be a struggle of course. I'm slowly, slowly working on that. I have improved the amount I smoke since last year.

I have begun tracking my calories again and let me tell you how much that makes a difference. It really is an eye opener to how much you are consuming out of the day. I have been tracking for the past three days and I have substantially cut my calories down from the first day I started. I need to keep that up

For the most part I usually choose healthy foods however I really want to crack down on this more, foods that will offer me the nutrients that will keep me energized throughout the day

And lastly, this seems to be my biggest struggle is getting up and just moving! I am always making excuses or I find something that is more important to do than even just going for a walk. I even bought a friggin bike so I could ride it around (I lost 40lbs doing this 7 years ago) I'm not sure why I can't get into just moving again. I think this will be my biggest struggle of all.

What do you guys struggle with the most in your weight loss journey?

My biggest struggle is eating at night. I eat pretty well during the day but by evening I feel like I need a break, so I eat.

I stopped smoking several years ago, and believe me, it's worth it! I quit cold turkey, and the trick was to convince myself that I was a non-smoker. Seriously, one day I just thought "today and forever more I am a non-smoker." And it worked!

Maybe I need to think of myself as a non-night-eater...?
