Saturday started out a little slow with a rainy, yucky day and a missed soccer game, but Sunday made up for it with a full day at the State Fair! I know I overindulged a little, but semi-carefully. And now I have to rein it in a little for the rest of the week!
As I said, Saturday was a little slow. It was a rainy morning, and no one seemed motivated to get moving. Then my husband went to check my daughter's soccer schedule to see which uniform she was supposed to wear, and realized we were already 15 minutes late for the game. Whoops! We didn't realize the time changed each week. Saturday night, my husband wanted to have wings, so I indulged him with homemade buffalo wings. Not terribly healthy, but I only ate a few, keeping myself in check.
Sunday was Fair Day! And what a fantastic day it was! We met up with the family of one of my daughter's classmates and just had a fun full day together! What we thought would be a 2 hour window at the fair, turned into an all day affair! I kept my eating in check - indulging on a cheese steak sandwich for lunch and picking at my husband's funnel cake. But also drinking a TON of water and walking...walking...and walking! And I realized something...it wasn't about the food this time. Yes, I REALLY wanted some funnel cake, but other than that, I didn't feel like I needed to "treat myself" to all the goodies everywhere. It was so much fun to watch Kate have a blast on the rides. Seeing her face light up when she rode her first "roller coaster", or seeing her laugh uncontrollably while riding on the silly elephant, was what made the day so special!
It was a wonderful day! And worth every penny spent! Of course, now it's time to rein it in a little. One problem with a full day of fun, is missing out on my usual day of planning and prep for the week. We didn't get our grocery shopping done, nor did I make any meals ahead of time - let alone plan out lunches, etc. So I'm winging it this week.
Oh, and our neighbor gifted us with some wonderful German sausages that my husband conveniently forgot to freeze or use. SO, last night, I had to cook them all before they went bad. I don't think I was out of control with my eating, but I have NO idea how to count them since I don't know WHAT they were. HA!
I have plenty of exercise planned for the week, and will be challenging myself to really be careful about my calories/fat for the rest of the week.
