So what's so great about Fall?

Sunday, September 22, 2013

Happy First Day of Autumn, I know that for a lot of you, this is the best time of the year!

I've missed posting the weekly blog; I really didn't intend on taking 4 months away. I was really only planning on taking a blog-break during the month of June, Then it was July and quickly it was August and now here we are! Summer just got busier and busier and eventually the busy-ness took too much time away from my writing. It's my experience that the more time I have to write, the more I think of to write and during the last couple of weeks, my journal has been filling up!

A year ago on Sept. 1 I started on a new path, the gentle journey. I wasn't as interested in how to stop making bad choices but rather why I made those choices in the first place. It's been an awesome 12 months for me; I've learned a lot about myself along this new path.
My weight loss has been s-l-o-w (14 pounds over the last year) but I have truly cherished every pound lost. There's been a lot of changes over the past year and adjustments made to accommodate the passing of each season.

So here we are, summer is officially over. Summer isn't my favorite season (Spring is the time for me, that season that teases and seldom stays in Northeast Wisconsin for very long) but moving into Autumn always finds me kicking and screaming for just one more chance to enjoy the summer.

A couple of teams asked yesterday what was great about the fall. It was helpful for me to think about this, a good reminder that the next couple of months will be nice. Someone posted something about the earth regenerating itself for next Spring and I took that one step further for myself. It's time now for me to return inward and continue on the amazing interior journey I started a year ago.

So here's some of what I posted about "What's Good About Fall" to my teams that asked:
- jeans and sweaters
- working outside and not sweating (as much!)
- huddling under the blankets at night
- the dark mornings - my finest hours when I do my best interior work (and find more time to write!).
- for me, a slower pace. My summers are so busy; I miss these quiet days and welcome their return!

What would you include?

Convince me that Autumn is the finest time of the year!!

Have a great week!!

Spring is my favorite season too and it never lasts long enough here. I like long mild Falls. No winter and mild summers.

I like the smells of fall. I like the changing leaves. I like pumpkins and apples. Bonfires. Weenie roasts. Chili. Halloween Thanksgiving. Walks in the woods. Cleaning up the yard for winter.

I've always been a fall lover! So many things to love! My birthday will be coming; love the beautiful fall colors, especially on the sugar maples; our wedding anniversary (34 yrs.); my youngest daughter's birthday and now her wedding anniversary (1 yr.); the start of the school year; and harvest time, the yummy foods and the beautiful landscape with the strips of different colors from different crops!

Although, now with all of that being said, I have to say this year, I really loved summer! This is because I was able to get away and to enjoy a wonderful trip!

My new motto is that if we live in Wisconsin, we know that we are going to get all kinds of weather. I choose not to complain about any of type of weather days but instead to enjoy something about each day as it comes because I know tomorrow will be something different and this day will be just a memory.

So glad to be able to read a blog from you! I was just thinking about you last week and was wondering how you are doing!

I feel exactly the same way you described about Fall! I adore it, it's the most amazing, wonderful time; but since I know that winter is on its heels, I dig in mine, and fret about what's to come without enjoying the NOW! Here's to fall!

    Campfires while camping!
Football games at the local high school!
    Long walks and bike rides!

Just a few, but they're my favorites!

I would include the chance to enjoy the fruits of my
labor as the garden is a labor of love that I can enjoy
all winter long. There is still work to do but the
busy-ness is slowing down. Happy Autumn!
