Self Sabotage?

Friday, September 20, 2013

There has been one thing recently that I just can't seem to get my head around. I have been doing excellent with making sure I get my workouts in and making sure they are effective. But it seems that when i am making progress and going strong I sabotage myself. Today I did my cardio interval routine which is pretty intense and then tonight I made chocolate chip cookies!! What am I doing!! At least I didn't eat them all. I only had 5. The chocolate in them is a little too dark for my taste so to me they tasted kind of awful when I got to the chocolate part of them but I still ate 5! Maybe I was thinking they would taste better as I got used to them? I tend to do this not very often but still enough to make me wonder.

Back before I started working out again like a month before I started I was doing great with my food. Planning out a menu in advance and shopping for the weeks worth of meals I had written down. But now I am lucky if I get through all the food I buy at the grocery store/farmers market before it goes bad! What happened?! Have I been to distracted making sure I get my workouts in? It shouldn't be this hard. I mean yes I have two wonderful children but I had them back before I started working out so what then? My 8 month old did start crawling last month but I don't think that should have had anything to do with it.

I have got to buckle down and get my menus back in order. I will have lots of fresh fruits and veggies as I just joined a local organic food CO-OP so that should help some. I know there will be items that I will have to learn to cook as I get new veggies that I have never tried before. We are on a budget so this is one way we are hoping to save some money since the price of the shares is considerably cheaper than buying all the same amount of items from the organic section of the grocery store. I just bought a large amount of grass-feed beef and most of it is in the freezer but I do have some thawing to use for the week.

I have also gotten into a rather bad fast food habit. We seem to have a habit of being out during dinner time and since I cook from scratch making a meal would take way to long to make and eat before bed time. It makes me wish I had a larger freezer. Then I could precook some stuff and then just throw it all together at dinner time. I need to utilize the crockpot again since we are rather big fans of pot roasts and briskets and the like.

Does anyone have some ideas to help me get back on the healthy eating track? Our stomachs and wallet would be very grateful for some ideas.

Cooking from scratch does take a lot more planning and pre-prep especially on a busy schedule. Sounds like you are on the right track as far as purchasing food and knowing what to do. Don't give up!

Go back to what you were doing--menu plans, tracking, take food out of freezer night before or put in frig 2 days before you plan on eating it. Stay focused. Bless you. emoticon

sounds more like you need to get a schedule going that supports a healthy lifestyle, rather than the one that has you away from home at suppertime.

Most likely you already know what to do to eat healthy, and a bigger freezer isn't going to solve your problem. Good luck to you. Glenn
