Having Cravings

Thursday, September 19, 2013

I've done really well by using the Nutrition Tracker on this site. I feel like I'm in control and I know I've got plenty of nutritious food at hand.

Today - its been so stressful at work. So much going on, and I have a desk full of work to do. I'm feeling that old feeling - wanting to eat, and eat, and eat because I'm stressed and anxious.

I've got lots of fruit here, and broccoli, and plain soups in little boxes if I get REALLY hungry (or have to work late!). I guess if I eat all this fruit (instead of candy or chips) the only thing it will affect is my "regularity" instead of my weight. I think its good that I recognize this feeling for what it is - stress - but I know I need to work on not letting the stress get to me in the first place.

What do you all do to manage stress eating?

I tell myself that I can deal with it and at home when I am going to sleep I imagine myself in situations that are stressful for me and I see myself handling the situation without feeling stressed by it. If I do feel stressed I eat my food I take to work and I promise myself a little treat on a day off work that I can plan into my calories and carbs. And sometimes I take a break and go outside for 5 or 10 minutes and just walk and enjoy the quiet then when I go back in I feel more ready to deal with the situation. Everyone has to find what works best for them. I think you did great by eating your fruit instead of giving into the urge to eat other thing!!!!!!

I drink a cup of tea and I try and keep trigger foods out of reach. I would go for a walk too, I am not hungry after exercise. Take some deep breaths! Hang in there.

Drink some water or hot water with lemon. Then take a walk around the building. Take some deep breaths. Stay mindful of your goals.

Usually, one or more of these will work for me. Not all the time, but nothing is 100 percent.

I'm sorry you're having stress at work!! I can relate!!
