Starbucks

I've become addicted to starbuck's, but I hate coffee. Go figure, right? I recently had some time off and during that time I was working on a writing project. I found that for some reason I got more writing done at starbucks than anywhere else, including home and other cafes or coffee places. Going there became worthwhile and I was hooked. I know, I feel like a sellout, but at least I'm honest.
As I spent more of my time among the well-to-do people in my neighborhood and their lattes, I discovered something amazing. Starbucks is one of the scariest diet traps ever. My local Starbucks has started posting calorie counts of all food and drink on its menus. I strongly support this practice. However, it made me realize that they carry single serving items that are as much as 400 calories. Yikes! That means that there are people sipping a latte and chowing on a pastry for a snack that adds up to 800 calories.
How do I stay safe in this treacherous environment? I'm lucky. I hate coffe and I hate rich fruit breads. I get the iced tea with splenda instead of syrup and pair it with a greek yogurt or bistro box. I will have this together as a meal which sets me back less than 400 very delicious calories. Yum!
