A Successful Weekend

I just came back from a great staff retreat! Everyone had fun, we ate lots of good food, and bought some neat things.

I think I did very well as far as eating healthy went. The first place we went to was a Mongolian Grill. I got peppers, onions, broccoli and chicken with soy sauce, Mongolian sauce and wine, and then had some brown rice on the side. I also had some strawberries and orange slices. It was about the healthiest I've ever eaten at a place like that.

For dinner, we went to Panera. (Probably my favorite place to eat, ever!) I had their new Autumn Squash Soup, which was absolutely amazing and their Roasted Turkey with Wheatberries Salad. Also amazing. Together it came to about 500 calories.

I had brought snacks to the hotel room for us. This included lots of chocolate, trail mix, brownies, grapes and oranges. I had about a cup of grapes, one orange, and one square of Ghiradhelli dark chocolate. I was very proud of myself for not eating more!

This morning, the hotel had all sorts of things for breakfast...bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles, etc. I opted for oatmeal with unsweetened blueberries and some Dannon Activia yogurt, with a cup of tea. Satisfying and so good!

I've tracked everything and am very happy to say I stayed within my calorie intake limits!

Aside from food, we walked around an outdoor shopping center where there was an art festival going on. We also did some shopping. I bought a fuchsia Ralph Lauren dress on sale for $25 (originally $124). It is a tad bit tight but it won't be too long before I wear it. I have the exact same dress but in a different color/pattern.

I also bought a set of 5 lb weights for $10. Not bad! Right now my strength training consists of Jorge Cruises' 8 Minutes in the Morning for Extra-Easy Weight Loss. But I figured I'd better buy the weights for when I become ready for something a little more challenging.

The one thing that I struggled with this weekend was sleep. We stayed up until close to 1 a.m. last night and I got up at 7:30 a.m. this morning. Tonight I'll be up until around 11 p.m. for Bible Study, but I'm going to try to get my week off to a good start with rising at 5:30 a.m. We shall see!
