What I'm up to...

I know I tend to go AWOL from SP a lot, but I always come back when I need that little push. The encouragement and motivation here can't be beat :-)

I put on a few lbs during this summer. I avoided the scale but there was no denying it when I realized I couldn't fasten any of my jeans (I'd been wearing elastic waist shorts all summer). I guess you could call that a 'wake up moment'.

Since the kiddies went back to school, I've done the 'walk of shame'. Meaning I went to the store and bought a bigger size pair of jeans to wear temporarily until I can get back into everything else in my closet. I also began tracking my calories again. I always do well when I closely track cals, I just go downhill when I start ques-stimating and get lazy about recording things. Little snacks here and there really do add up. The hard part for me is staying consistent with it.

I also raided my 'just do it' box. That's what I call a Nike shoebox under my desk that contains a collection of workout videos I've accumulated over the years (mostly Turbo Jam videos). Video games are my preferred form of exercise, but that was hard to do over the summer with the whole family using the TV in the living room most of the time. For right now, I think I need the 'big guns' lol. So my goal for the past 2 weeks has been to do one Turbo Jam or Brazil Butt Lift video a day. I've kept my promise on that.

So far I've lost 2 lbs and feel 'tighter'. Still not back into my size 6's yet but I will get there. I'm Also using my pedometer (even during the workout videos) and trying to make sure I get in enough movement throughout the day. My pedometer isn't very accurate though. For every step I take, it counts 2-3 steps. I just take that into account when I check it in the evenings. I tried using a pedometer iPhone app and carrying my phone in my pocket, but it drains my battery too quickly. So I ordered one of those new tri-axis pocket pedometers and will use my old clicky one until it arrives.

While I was browsing amazon I saw the Fitbit (drools)! I love handheld gadgets and would've bought it immediately if we had the funds. Christmas is coming soon, hmmmm.... :-)
