What a productive day!

Thursday, September 12, 2013

After a rousing game of racquetball, I headed to work and started my day off checking emails before hitting the road.

I am trying to do some fundraising for my Prostate Cancer Awareness program. Since I do events such as Family Fun Days (on Sept 21), Health Fairs (Oct 2 and Feb), have a support group, etc., "funds" can be any kind of contributions. I need items to be given in drawings which are conducted to bring people to my booth. I need prizes for kids' games (which bring dads to the booth). I need refreshments for the support group. And I need cash to pay for event booths, volunteer recruitment and to cover those other things which are not donated. We, at the Community Cancer Center are not-for-profit and make sure that no one goes without necessary cancer treatment and will treat patients even if they can not pay for it. There are no federal funds that pay for treatments or programs.

Then I had a Chamber of Commerce meeting this afternoon. There, I asked the local school board administrator if he thought his school would be interested in participating in a program called "Tackling Prostate Cancer". It is a partnership with the local high schools across the country to promote prostate cancer awareness across the country. Within the hour, I was set up to present at the homecoming game which will give us great exposure!

So, a productive day was had! Tomorrow I will spend a good six hours out doing more fund-raising. I enjoy the extra out of the office time and get such a rush out of accomplishing my goals at work.

Here's hope your day was as productive as mine, albeit in a different way.

How awesome that the principal was supportive and offered that opportunity!

My day was too busy, again. Having company threw me out of my rhythm of daily stuff. I stayed in plan, so far as food, but didn't get in my morning walks, so I was a bit sore from that. But today, which will be another busy one, I hit it first thing and got 'er dun! And I feel soooo much better.

    Have fun today!

Great job - I am always an advocate for cancer awareness - I do concentrate my fundraising on the Alzheimer's Walk - but I can appreciate all that you do!

I do participate in our Relay for Life & give there for all cancers.

You have a great job & sounds like you are doing a fantastic and rewarding job at it!
