I am such a klutz

Thursday, September 12, 2013

So last night I wasn't feeling terrific. My TOM showed up and I was set for an evening curled up on the couch. Hubby had just gone to work, and I decided to grab something from the kitchen. On my way back I tripped over on of my ten pound hand weights. Yeah that hurt my foot, but I lost my balance and ended up the floor. Naturally I put my hands out to break my fall.
That's where it got bad. I landed on one of my hubby's pocket knives. I don't know if when I fell if maybe I snapped it open or by landing on it came open. Hubby is very good normally about making sure his knives are always closed. It's possible it was left open but that just seems strange to me but it could happen.
Anyway my left hand came down on it, and it sliced into my ring finger right at the joint. Sure it hurt that's why I jumped up, I bent my finger, applied pressure and went to rinse it off. It's not the first cut I've ever had so I didn't think much of it.
Something I learned last night, fingers bleed like a you know what. I had no idea fingers could bleed so much. Also, it's not a good idea to move so fast if there is that much blood. Because as I rinsed off my finger at some point I passed out and woke up on the kitchen floor. It was maybe a minute or two but let me tell you that's a bit nerve wrecking.
I got up and made it to our bathroom and got the bleeding stopped, or so I thought at that point. I called hubby, who was already at work. He feels so, so terrible. I don't blame him, I'm the one that fell, it's not like he was even there. Talked to my mom sent her pictures and we decided since it stopped bleeding that it probably didn't need stitches.
I went to bed and hubby was home a few hours later. We have so much rain here it took that long to get home. I couldn't get the band aid off cause it hurt so bad but I told him I as fine. Well when I woke up to go to work, I had bleed through the band aid.
I got my mom to take me to the emergency room. I have three stitches to show for it. A husband who feels so terrible he's just beside himself and on top of that people know what a klutz I am. Oh and I had to get a shot, I'm sorry I don't know how to spell tetnious so if it's wrong my bad. Yeah so far my day rocks.

hope the doctor gave you antibiotics too, because you never know what a knife was last used for, and seems like only kitchen knives get washed regularly.

O . . . M . . . G! If that had gone somewhere in your chest! Glad you're all right and GOOD that you went for stitches. At the very least, even IF you hadn't needed them, it was VERY wise to get the tetanus shot. You just never know and that's NOTHING to fool with.

Hope your pinkie is feeling better today. Sheesh!
