Quick update before I hit the gym with my mom...
I have been going to the gym in the morning after I teach class, or on days I don't teach around the same time of the day... Started with cardio, doing about 30-45 minutes or so. We started getting there around the time The Price is Right is on, so I've been watching that and wanting to stay on and see who wins the showcase, so its been a good distraction.
The first week the pool at the Y was being cleaned, so no pool time. The second week we started with cardio, then my mom and I would change into suits and go swim. So I started doing the 30-45 minutes of cardio, mostly on an elliptical. Then 30-50 minutes of swimming laps in the pool.
One day I even went on an afternoon walk afterward to pick apples at Eckert's in 97 degree heat. Needless to say that about killed me. So calories wise, I'm burning.
Food wise I'm tracking everything on MyFitnessPal. I have my BodyMedia armband tracking my movements (outside the pool), and hopefully this will show me some progress.
I started my Diet bet at 200.4# (admittedly after drinking a ton of water) -- and today I was 198.2. So progress (and probably pee, TMI) has me on the right trajectory. TJ is supportive and says my butt has also taken a definite lift from the workouts.
So I used to be a swimmer. On a swim team. Not a great one... just kinda there with all my friends as a filler for races no one wanted to do. I was okay with it. Getting back in the pool is great, but dang it I am outta shape. My arms and shoulders have NOT been being worked out. After the first 45 minute foray into the pool, I started to get crampy pec muscles. Then TMI my boobs swelled up like crazy. I don't know what the heck was doing that, hormones or muscle pain, but they hurt for like 3 days! (Way worse than PMS boobs too!) So that made cardio elliptical work fun (NOT).
Anyway, so I've been doing about 90 minutes of exercise a day. Wednesday is my rest day since I teach a class and lab. Still trying to find more work... No luck yet, but I'm applying. Debating about unemployment and tutoring... ugh, PhD's are just not worth what they used to be...
So that's that, I need to go get my butt to the gym this morning, then off to the dentist this afternoon! Oh and then the Cardinals-Brewers game with TJ tonight! And free Six Flags this Saturday (score!) thanks to Boeing. And then for some reason TJ wants to go to the zoo on Sunday... I'm being really skeptical whenever he suggests something now. We had our first date at the zoo, so TJ is either being cute and just wants to go to the zoo... or he will have a ring in his pocket... So me being all sciency and suspicious is trying to overanalyze everything he does until that ring gets on my finger ;-)
So that's that. Working out helps with my moods... and my weight... so why the heck have I not been doing this more?
