We receive mercy from God when He decides to give it. God shows mercy because He has plans for us. There will be times when we have to make the first move by asking for forgiveness so we can be clean again. There will be times when His mercy is given to us because He has something He wants us to do. There will be times when we receive His mercy because someone else needs to learn something and He uses us to help them better understand His message. We can’t choose it or work for it. It is His decision when and why to show mercy on us.

Romans 9:16 “So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, Your mercy is wonderful and unbelievable. We are so grateful for Your mercy on us. Help us to know we are not in control of Your mercy but You give Your mercy as You see fit. You know more than us. You have our best interest and the interest of others in mind when you show mercy. Help us to understand and trust in You knowing You will show mercy when You are ready to. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

So many things in life we can’t explain. God’s mercy is one of them. But we can be grateful and accept it.

God’s mercy is given to us for a reason. When we receive it, we are to share it with others.

God shows mercy to us when He is ready, not when we think we are ready.

Going before God every day and confessing our sins will allow us to be open and ready for His mercy.

Recognizing God’s mercy on us is important. Even more important is sharing what He has done for us with others so they will come to know and experience His mercy as well.

Mark 5:19 “But Jesus said, ‘No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.’” (NLT)
