Where Were You?

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Today is not the day for a funny blog. Today is the day for remembrance. I was in high school when 9/11 happened. They came across the intercom and said to turn off all tv's and keep them off. My teacher immediately did the opposite and we saw the second tower be hit and then saw them fall. I can still remember how horrified and shocked I was. After class was over I called my mom to come get me and she did. When I got home I just fell to my knees and prayed and cried. I wasn't even saved yet, that didn't come for many years. But I prayed for all the missing, all the dead, and even for the lost souls that did such a horrible thing...

So now I want to know where you were and what you thought, saw, heard, remember...please be kind on this blog to other people's thoughts too. Thank you, God bless, and never forget!

I was living in MA then and I was at work. I worked in the emergency room as a clerk and, after signing up a patient, I noticed how everyone was glued to the TV - doctors, nurses, patients - so I went to see what they were watching and saw the planes hit the building on live TV. It was like watching a movie, at first, to me. I didn't realize until later that there were lots of people in those buildings! I remember watching TV that day and then I never watched that again. I had friends in NYC at the time but they were okay, and how grateful I was for that. Thanks for sharing, my friend.

I was at home getting ready for the day when my husband called me and told me turn on the news. It was right after the first tower was hit. I called my in-laws in Las Vegas and woke them up with the news. Such a sad day...Let's remember all the heroes and the unity this country felt afterwards.

I had just been accepted to a new job at a doctor's office and I was so excited, to be able to start in a few days, and I was getting ready to go shopping for some new medical uniforms. I heard it on the radio, and then I saw it on TV. My heart totally broke and started praying. I was listening to the radio and the TV at the same time. I felt I had to do something, so I called the Red Cross and they were accepting people to help man the phones and answer calls trying to find loved ones, and help with donations. I immediately drove downtown to the Red Cross headquarters and manned the phones all day, trying to comfort people and give them hope that their loved ones were going to be found. It was one of the hardest day of my life, but also inspirational with so many people pulling together to help and know that there is so much goodness along with the bad in the world. We have to have faith, hope and love. God Bless America! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I was at work, I was opening store manager. I remember being on the phone with my boss, around 7am and he was watching the TV and was guessing it was an acccident and then he saw the second plane hit the second tower. He freaked! I will never forget that. And it is also my birthday, can you imagine the birthday celebration I didn't have? I am with LOFLLAMA on remember all those that came together. If it can only continue now, instead of all the crap we are dealing with today. We need unity.

How about we remember all the Courage that came in the next days, weeks, months & years. All the Love. All the Forgiveness. All the Heroes. All the Ability. All the Compassion. All the Empathy. That's what I choose to remember.
