The Perfect Weekend

Monday, September 09, 2013

This weekend felt just perfect, and I'm not sure why. We didn't do anything fantastic or amazing. But the weather was lovely, and it was one of those weekends where you feel you have time to relax and enjoy life, while at the same time getting quite a bit accomplished. My neighbors are on vacation, so I got to walk over to their place both days (a nice hilly 10 minute walk with my dog) and do their chores, which mostly benefited my family because they included things like gathering their fresh eggs for my family, and picking lovely produce from their garden. I got to sit in my living room enjoying the sunshine and some of my favorite music while hemming three pairs of slacks for my son. I got to go to a good Sunday School class, and a wonderful church service. Enjoyed dinner at home, with my son and daughter and son-in-law here, which hasn't happened for a while. Laughed our heads off at an old Gene Kelly movie, "It's Always Fair Weather" (which I highly recommend!) Baked 4 loaves of bread, and an apple pie. Just nice homey stuff, it was lovely. Now it's nearly time to start a new work week, the second week of school. I feel rested and ready--a great way to start the week!

What a wonderful week end for you! You accomplished a lot, and were able to enjoy life too. The walk over to the neighbor's home sounds nice - and how nice to get fresh eggs and produce to boot! Nice to spend time with family and to laugh together.
Did you participate in the 5K Race for the Cure yet? How did your knees so?
Have a great week. emoticon Karen
