Made It Through The First Week of School

Saturday, September 07, 2013

I had a feeling this would be a crazy busy week (it was!), so I planned a meal plan where I could just eat the same thing everyday. This would save me the trouble of planning out the next day's meal each evening. For the family I made a big pot of soup that they ate three nights in a row, and tonight I made up for it by giving them waffles with fresh strawberries from my almost-non-existent-this-year garden. They did not complain, bless their hearts. I enjoyed my own meal plan the first couple of days, but by Thursday night I was pretty bored with it. I guess I need variety. Today I changed it up a bit, and I think next week I'll try to be a little more creative. Maybe I'll do the same breakfast and lunch everyday, but make dinner be different. And I'll try to go back to eating basically the same thing for dinner that the rest of the family is eating. This is the most boring blog ever! Sorry!
I AM excited that next week I'm going to participate in a 5k Race for the Cure with some co-workers at school! I will not be running, it would be bad for my knees, besides which I have never been good at running. But I CAN walk fine, and I think it's going to be fun. We named our team "Team Lucy" in honor of our co-worker who discovered she has cancer this summer. She is a very brave and spunky lady, who is still coming to work in spite of being in the midst of chemo treatments. I am so proud of her!

This is not boring - it is life, and I love reading about your week. You will be able to get back into the "swing" of things before long - I think it was a good plan for the first week and I'm so happy for you that your family didn't complain! They were probably just thrilled to have something to eat!! Or, as my husband says, to have it prepared for him.
Good lunch with the 5k - I just might have to start participating in them - I can't run either, and never could, but I do love to walk! I'm sure that Lucy is very thankful for all of you.
Thanks for the update, have a great week end!
