The Importance of Non-Scale Victories

Before I started losing weight and getting healthy (this time), I would have told you that the most important things were the numbers on the scale. I am learning every single day that I was WRONG.

Sometimes the scale doesn't move for a while, and without those NSV's, I would have given up long ago. I never maintained a "diet" for more than about 3 months and 30 pounds. I am at 8 months, 75 pounds, and still going strong!

I had some great NSV's this week.
1. My new job at PetSmart starts tonight. I picked up my uniform shirt yesterday and it is a LARGE! Not an XL, 2X, or 3X, just a plain old large!
2. I got my wedding ring back on my finger! I haven't been able to wear it in about 5 years, and it feels great to have it back where it belongs.
3. No more need for medication to control my cholesterol and triglycerides!
4. I had a slight cold. Why is that a victory? Because I didn't use it as an excuse to eat whatever I wanted, because I maintained some reduced fitness routines anyway, and because I'm so much healthier, I fought it off quickly.
