swimming lessons

So, I'm thinking of signing up for swimming lessons and was wondering what you'd recommend I bring for the first day. Obviously a suit but what else would I need? I'm looking for lessons since I can get from one side of the pool to the other but it isn't pretty. I'd like to be able to swim for fitness since my running has been sidelined so if you have any additional info for me please feel free to leave it.

    Swimsuit, flip flops, goggles and swim cap (both optional) and a towel.

    Goggles, and if your hair will get in the way, a swim cap. Towel and anything you want for afterwards. They'll let you know if you need any other equipment, but if it's just basic lessons, most likely you won't need anything yet.

    Excited about hearing how this goes! I was a swimmer so all swim-talk makes me happy. :)

    I'd say all you really need is a pair of swim goggles so the chlorine doesn't hurt your eyes. Any reputable pool that gives lessons will have the necessary equipment.

    Oh, also bring your "can do" attitude and you'll be all set. I'm a swimmer and I love to swim laps for exercise. It's a great workout.
