I've a million things to do today, but I'm going to take a minute to think about this month ahead.

I set a goal for myself to be at my target weight by September 30, my oldest daughter will be 22 that day.

So far I'm on track, but I'm really going to have to use all the habits I've been working on, especially those I've learned from the 5% Summer Challenge.

Why? Because I've been here before, at least 10 times, losing the same 10 pounds. You'd think I'd learn! This time around I've acquired a few new skills.

1. Constantly focusing on the positive. For example, I like to exercise but I don't always remind myself that I'm very committed and consistent with this positive behavior that improves my life. Been working on that.

2. Little changes add up. Each week of the 5% challenge, I've worked to make the one little change. From there I've established some great routines for drinking water, eating veggies and now eating off a smaller plate and eliminating 100 calories a day.

3. Tracking! Oh how this is hard. But I remind myself to track food, exercise, habits, goals so that I don't just feel the drudgery of the food tracking.

Already my clothes fit (again!) and I'm looking forward to putting up a maintenance ticker. I love seeing my buddy Deb's, it's a total inspiration.

Happy September to all!

Great job with all you've learned in the 5% challenge! They are tools you can use to continue your success.

Sometimes I forget to focus on the positives and start making excuses for skipping exercise. But when I do I lack I have to remind myself I must make time to workout in order to keep my energy up.

Thanks for sharing your tips and I know you'll continue to use them as you move forward this month! emoticon emoticon
