My Weekend w/ My Family

Monday, September 02, 2013

Well, this time last year, my family and I had a trying time. I lost my job after moving away from Toledo to move to Indy, which is further away from my family by 5 hours where Toledo was only 2 hours. Then, my brother was in the hospital due to blood clots in his lungs. Along with this stress, my dad was in the hospital due to a number of ailments that were due to years of alcoholism. My mother whom I'm very close to was going through so much last year.

I'm so happy to say that I was able to stay in Indy due to a new job. My brother is still has slight issues with the clots, but his health is so much better compared to last year. My dad still has issues with alcohol, but he definitely has cut down on drinking as well as gave up smoking entirely. My mother has joined me again in the weight loss journey and has loss over 30 pounds.

I came home for the last summer holiday: Labor Day. I have to say this has been a very enjoyable visit with my family. Like I've mentioned in previous blogs, I've been nursing my ankle. However, I've been enjoying my walks with a little running with my mother and aunt for these past 3 days. I've spent time with my crazy brother who has one of the craziest sense of humors that will actually make your stomach hurt due to laughing so hard. I also spend some quality time with my nephews, sister-in-law, cousin and her daughters. I've been smiling all weekend long.

Today, I've been resting in order to prepare for my 5 hour drive home. My mother wants to keep Skeeter to help her and my aunt keep the motivation on their walks. Skeeter will definitely help them keep a nice walking pace because he loves to go on walks. Yes, I will miss my baby, but he's in good hands. My mother bought him a little toy and he's been going crazy with playing with it. Then, in a few weeks, he will be back home with me.

So, continue to enjoy your family because life is too short and you never know. Keep smiling and having fun with them. I will continue to do so!
