update on knees

Friday, August 30, 2013

Hi guys...I went to my orthopedic surgeon and there's good news and bad. Good first!
My replaced knee which has been hurting and never did before, is fine. He thinks because my (bad news) right knee is so bad, bone on bone, that I am putting more weight on my left leg, overcompensating. I am relieved replaced knee is OK, just stressed.
The OTHER knee is bad, however I am not ready to do the replacement (I still remember how awful the other one was!) So he gave me a kenalog injection and he did it under ultrasound so he was putting it exactly where it would help the most. That was new. I can expect some improvement with 3-4 days. At which point, I am not to go "hog wild" because it feels better...OK... lol.

My back is another story. I have been unable to stand or walk for any length of time so we went out and bought a new bed and slept on it last night. I think this could be very helpful so will see how I feel in a few days. I miss walking with frank and stitch and he walks so much faster without me, my poor baby dog is dead tired when they get back... she is a Grammy so she needs me to balance it

Meanwhile, I'm not eating bad but I'm not eating well and I barely track which is a super bad habit to get into.

I'm coming back, clawing and scratching and hanging on and hanging in. If nothing else, I am stubborn and tenacious so I never give up.

Thanks for caring, you guys make all the difference!!!

Ouch, what a lot of crap to deal with! Glad the replacement knee is okay and that the other should be feeling better shortly and that the new bed could help. I understand not feeling like tracking, but I swear, it's the times we don't want to track that are the times we most need to!! Good luck with everything; hooray for stubbornness! I like how determined you sound. :)

I hope the injection and the new bed help! You gotta get back to tracking. We both kmow that it's the only way to do this. You are as stubborm as I am, so show that tracker who's in charge! Love ya Jan!

Hope your knee pain lets up soon and you can get out there for your walks. I know my grandma had both replaced and she said it wasn't a fun experience. Sometimes beds make a big difference on how we feel, hope this one helps out a lot. Feel better.

Just exactly what is an orthopedic surgeon's idea of "going hog wild"? I would be curious to know.... I have never even heard of the injection you had but the idea that you are dealing with one knee, bone on bone, and the other is a replacement part, makes me admire you even more (somehow I did not know you had had a knee replacement). How long is the injection supposed to help? I really hope your new bed helps your back. Is it your lower back? Good thing you are T&T, Miss Jan (Tough and Tenacious). Hang in there, doll. Tell you what - I will track if you will. As a matter of fact I will go do that right NOW! Payton fixed me a protein smoothie and turkey bacon for breakfast. Not only does he defend me against mean skinny witches, he fixes me breakfast. What a boy! emoticon

Hope that medicine (injection) helps your knee Jane. We also replaced our bed and it has helped a little. it was about twenty years old! Time sure flew by, lol.

My knees were the straw that got me to start my weight loss journey. My bathroom is on the second floor and it was getting to be torture to go up those stairs...

Good luck with your treatments and bed change. I hope they both help.

    Have a great weekend!!
