Echo Cardiogram results

Friday, August 30, 2013

It's been a whirlwind here since I last posted...

wow... there's a lot to say and I don't want to bore you... so... hmmm... the short story? I'll try!

I took 3 trips this year (2 by plane to Arizona/New Mexico; 1 by car from Wisconsin to Arkansas). My legs continued to swell and I couldn't get rid of the fluid before the next flight/drive. When all was said and done, I had gained about 15 pounds since earlier this year with pretty intense pitting edema.

I've also had other symptoms... distressing muscle weakness (not sure if it's from a new med - generic Lipitor or my really low vitamin D - it's better now, but not sure which fix worked... time will tell); easy bruising (no one seems to care about this... so nothing important); Muscle pain (not sure about any of this)... etc...

Long story short, my dr's PA put my on stronger water pills and took a lot of tests, which ended with an echo cardiogram yesterday. I've lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks.. (hard to say on this one, too - because my appetite has been less than normal).

Got my echo cardiogram results today... I'm alive! anyway - it showed that my diastolic blood pressure (the lower number) is elevated... the PA was pleased with the slow loss of the fluids in my legs (6 lbs in 2 weeks). I need to continue to keep my feet up and legs wrapped and then in 3 weeks, she'll change up my meds to address this need.

My eating has been pretty decent. Not as good about water and exercise, but that should be a better as I'm feeling better now.

So... that's been my journey lately... working on being a more active member coming up!

sounds miserable to be that water logged. hope that it reverses itself with a little intervention.

As an aunt of mine used to say, "It gets harder and harder to be 39!"
    Praying everything works out.
