Life is a Teeter-Totter

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

Life is always a series of ups and downs, and we for the most part roll well with them. However, this summer it has been one major issue after another. Our daughter and her husband divorced. Our son who is CMI and was stable and living on his own for over a year has been experiencing psychotic episodes, would not stay on his meds and has been a danger to himself and others. The good news for him and us is that he has finally been petitioned by the court and has been in a mental hospital for the last five days. We are not sure when he will be released and to where.

Then our sweet Ginger was diagnosed with lymphoma. Her whole body has been distorted by huge lumps and our once active dog now labors to breathe. After researching the treatments we decided to let her live out her life until she became too uncomfortable. We have reached that heart breaking time and today she will be euthanized. Our hearts are broken and we will always love and miss her, especially her soulful brown eyes. Today I would like to get off this teeter - totter and not deal with another heart breaking issue. Since that is not a choice, I'll hope that the next good thing is just around the corner.
