Eating to live

Friday, August 23, 2013

So I have heard "eating to live" many times but it never resonated with me. Now it does. Have been doing a lot of research on internet and library while I have been trying to give my body a break. Have been making and drinking homemade kefir. Have started different forms of magnesium and have flakes on the way to make my own magnesium oil. At Doc appt. this morning he talked with me about staying on the probotics (from the kefir indefinitely) and how my body has been wiped out (we know it is from the antibiotics). Been reading up on antibiotics (medical books) and learning a lot. I hadn't taken an antibiotic for probably 15 years before this - really avoided them - and now I know why I didn't take them. So now I am learning about foods, what they do, why people are so concerned about all the antibiotics in our foods, and most of all, what I can do to try and help my body get back on track. Amazing how much our intestines and the bacteria there have to do with everything. Autistic children are even being helped by changes in diet. Though I have pretty much eaten healthy most of my life, I didn't really know a lot about how God designed this body to work. Seems doctors didn't really know either - learning about the bacteria in the intestine wasn't until the 1960's and antibiotics and what they were doing to our intestines wasn't really known till 2000's. I have learned so much about the antibiotic Cipro and how it works and what it does to our dna. Please don't take it - push your doctor to give you something else and only then if it is confirmed by lab test what if any bacteria is there. My doctor is saying at least 1 to 2 years to start to get my body back to where it was. I don't believe that though because I serve a powerful God. I will be doing all I can by eating to live (kind of ironic because antibiotcs aren't even a choice for me right now - infectious disease doc say I can't be put on any). So far kefir seems to be doing the job that they would have put me on antibiotics for. Plus I believe it is doing a whole lot more for me.

It is amazing what you learn when you do a little research. I wish you well on this journey. I know it is difficult when the doctors can't tell you what's going on. Good on you for doing some research for yourself and trying to help heal this wonderful body that God gave you.

One more thing to explore: fermented veggies. I don't know if your system can handle them, but I've heard nothing but good in terms of this providing GOOD food for the flora in our gut.

Hope you will find some good answers on your path towards getting healthy again. Sorry the journey is difficult some times...
