I kind of have a conceptualization of a perfectionist as someone who just always does things really well; flawlessly. Like my mom - everything she touches becomes perfect. I don't feel like I'm a perfectionist because I'm barely holding it together most days.
Though I am extremely uncomfortable with this shirt.

But recently I came across a list about perfectionism and discovered that several of the points describe me to the tee. It really exposes the dark side of perfectionism and how it can hinder a person.

It's interesting to think about. I think that identifying those behaviours and recognizing their basis in perfectionism can help set a person free from some of that. SparkPeople has a lot of articles and comments on how you don't need to try to be perfect, just try to pick yourself up and keep going. I think that getting into that mentality is beneficial not only for weight loss and healthy living but for every aspect of life.

Show me someone who is perfect and I'll show you someone who is failing at being normal. If a person never makes a mistake they never learn how to do better.

I love that checklist and that goes along with what I've always thought about perfectionist. I'm glad someone else agrees.
