Not a Beautiful Morning...

Saturday, August 17, 2013

Its a good thing that I made the most of my day yesterday. Here I sit at 2:13 in the morning trying to figure out what course of action to take to help my mentally ill son. In the past two weeks he has been in and out of the mental hospital and crisis center at least 7 times. We have been getting calls all hours of the day and night and both my husband and myself are exhausted. We just got back home from picking him up from the center and dropping him back at his apartment yet again.

I checked into having a court ordered evaluation done, but was told that if the Dr.'s at the crisis center felt he was a danger to himself or others they would have kept him in. I am still going down later today to see what can be done before he does hurt himself or someone else. Well, since I am up, I might as well put all the copper into the kiln and be productive.

I've read your last few blogs and am so very sorry for you in the loss of your dog. You comforted me during my loss and so this is how I even went to your page to read this. What has helped me alot is support from friends and by writing about my loss. I even wrote a song for him. It doesn't take the pain away, but it helps. Also sorry for your ups and downs you've been having recently. Hope your son improves and your daughter will be OK too. Best wishes for you in your time of uncertainties.

What a difficult time you are having. I hope that things work out and that you are able to really get your son the help that he needs. These situations are never easy. Our medical care in Arizona leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to mental illness. And, it makes it very difficult for family members to try to help an adult child or a parent or a spouse or a child.

And, the legal system is not much help either. I wish you all the best of luck in dealing with the issues, organizations and your son in the pursuit of getting the much needed help for your son. I hope that you can find help that breaks the in and out pattern of care that seems to be the "norm" when it comes to mental health care.

There has to be an answer out there that can provide peace of mind for you and your husband and real/long lasting help for your son.

My thoughts and prayers are with you!
