Not getting there

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Well, my low this year has still been 218 in June, have been hanging 220-222 ever since. So I'm not going to make my goal of 200 or even 210 this year. It has been a very stressful season, with new responsibilities that I just don't seem to be rising to the challenge of -- despite the fact that people keep telling me I'm doing fine.

So the goal now is to make sure I don't rise higher than last Winter's peak of 238. Can I keep it below 235? How about 230? I will be buying some new jeans at Yuletide, I've been needing them for a long time but wasn't sure what waist size to purchase. I'm going to get 36s unless something else happens. This in itself is a victory, as it wasn't a year ago I was wearing 44s.

I believe progress is still a good thing. Your down quite a few sizes from last year, I think that in itself is a wonderful thing! Plus buying new jeans always makes a person feel netter, especially a smaller size than last time! LOL! You must be doing something right.
It is natural I think most of us that are on this fitness journey would like to be down the path a little further than we are, I certainly would.

I've taken this week off for a mental break from my job (I blogged about it, so not going into detail on yours) I understand stress and the effects it has on our mind and body. If the people are saying your doing fine, that has to be a good thing right?
We Sparkers are in this together, thanks for posting!
    Bright Blessings, Lisa

I agree with you, except that my history has been to gain weight in the Winter and lose it in the Summer and Fall. I am not accepting weight gain, I am accepting my body. As I have noted in previous blogs, my Winter highs have gotten progressively lower and, until this year, my Autumn lows have gotten correspondingly lower. Last year I hit 209;.8... was hoping to break 200 this year but it's not happening.

Please hang in there. My top weight was 286.5; when I joined Spark, I weighted 249.8. I lost 40 lb...then gained a bit and I've been hanging around 210-214 for over a year now. My take is this: Nearly my entire life (I'm 68), I've been overweight and, for me, maintaining is a positive. and something I've not experienced. Previously, when I stopped losing I gained it all back and more.

I'm not sure right now that just "holding your own" is a bad thing. I'm not so sure that it's good to give yourself permission to gain though.

Hang in there---you are not alone!
