Day 136 - Extremely Sore from Yesterday

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

I have NEVER been able to jog more than a mile in my adult life. As a teen, I was barely able to jog two miles for school. I was in so much physical pain afterwards and years ago, I thought that was NORMAL.

Well, it's not....apparently.

So, I gave up trying as an adult many, many years ago.

I always wished I could jog like every one else. My kids are amazingly awesome runners! In fact, my daughter was a sprinter in her high school days and broke the record. She and another teammate made a full page photo in the local newspaper.

My sons were also runners, but it was my daughter that just blew them away! Even in long distance! She would come home after a mile and was actually breathing if that was possible! She was training my son before he left for the Marines almost 5 years ago. He came home out of breath. It was comical.

In my dreams, I was able to jog like my daughter...

So, yesterday after I took a puff from my inhaler and let it do its magic, I decided to see how far I can jog without stopping. I actually jogged 1.5 miles non-stop! Then shortly afterwards, I did another .5 miles. I was breathing NORMAL! I guess dreams do come true! LOL

But wait! I did not anticipate how SORE I would be the next day! OMG!!! I used muscles that I thought had shriveled up and died years ago! I am so sore all over and in very strange places, such as my middle back and around my rib cage. My butt is sore, for goodness sakes! Weird... It also messed up with my sleeping. My leg kept twitching during the night. So annoying!

Today, I read an article that says to take it easy with the sore muscles by walking, swimming, or yoga. I opted to walk...3 very slow, leisurely miles!

Okay...hoping that tomorrow I am not nearly as sore as I am today! And hoping that by Friday, I can try this jogging again...hmmmm
