Sugar, Salt, Fat Combo

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

I put this link in a blog so I can "bookmark" it for myself, However, I do want to share it if you are struggling with food cravings. Since I left processed food behind, I no longer suffer from binges or from night eating and I am grateful every day to be free from that monkey on my back. The toll those behaviors took on my self esteem and the relationship I had with my body was not pretty.

I am not perfect, so I still need reinforcement to keep away from the dreaded triad.

I hope this is helpful if you're having a tough week. I know we have the ultimate responsibility for what goes in our mouths. Knowledge is power and it's easier to fight back when you know your enemy.

Have a good day. Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels.

"Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels. "

One of the few pithy (No, I don't have a lisp! ;-)) quotes I've seen at SP, that I find (a) interesting, (b) true, and (c) useful.

But, it's even better than that (IMHO).

After losing weight, and planning my meals, I actually enjoy food 10 times more!

(And, that's about 1/10 the food I used to east, so the actual improvment factor is 100X! :-|

Thank you Lollie for adding the Link to this great article. I'm back on South Beach again just in Phase 1 so I'm not allowed any fruit, processed food, starches, sugars, including my beloved Bread emoticon Like the article you posted it says when we stop eating all the sweets, carbs, unhealthy fats for a week or two most of our craving for them leaves us a lone, how awesome and wonderful that is. Good for you for not eating processed food is that new for you or did you stop eating them a long time ago? When is your knee replacement scheduled? Are you now at a healthy weight as Dr's here don't like to do one until we're close to a normal weight so I have more "work" ahead of me. Enjoy your week!!

I certainly know my enemy--or should I say all of my enemies. Nice to be reminded of them. You can think about them, but written, it adds more meaning to them.
    Thanks for sharing! Noel

If you are really interested and enjoy reading this sort of thing, you should read Salt, Sugar and Fat by Michael Moss. It talks about how the processed food industry makes money at the expense of everyone's health. All they care about is making money. They don't care if they make you sick in the process. They spend a lot of time and money researching how to make their foods more appealing so you will want/need/buy more (can we say addictive?).

I see someone else mentioned this book. It's a pretty easy read. Here is a link to an excerpt (I can't hyperlink this, so you will have to copy and paste).

Thank you for sharing this blog. This is so true, fat ugly truth. I hope this was not true but it is.
And I really needed to see this and reinforce myself as well. Lately, I was getting too comfortable about certain foods and certain eating habit and I did not like it. This came in right in time for me to re-realized our favorite phase of "Nothing taste as good as healthy feels." (*^^*)

have you read the book "Salt, Sugar, Fat" by Michael Moss. It's really good, and it really changes the way a person looks at all supermarket foods.
