FitBit - YES!

A couple of weeks ago I asked the FitBit question - Yes or No?. Although I have only had my FitBit for a few days now I can certainly say YES!!

My goal to start is just 5000 steps a day. I have an office job. I sit at a desk all day, so I knew that I would not have the opportunity to rack up the crazy number of steps like the people who are lucky enough to have a job that allows them activity each day.

Well not only am I hitting my goal I am certainly exceeding it. Better yet, I have new goals! I have the FitBit One. It also tracks the number of flights of stairs in a day. So just because I am aware of that I have been ensuring that I climb at least 10 flights of stairs a day. Yesterday I walked the stairs at the cottage, up and down to the water just for the fun of it! Already today I have my 10 flights logged by walking the stairwell at work on my break.

It also has this cute little flower that grows with activity and shrinks when I have been still for too long. One glance at my flower gets me up and moving! Out to the water fountain to fill up my glass, the long way around the office to the copy/printer room, up a couple of floors to use the restroom. When I see that flower starting to wilt I just have to do something about it.

As of yet I still do not have any friends on my FitBit, that will come with time I suppose, but I have signed up for a steps challenge here on SP and I also have another friend with a pedometer that is challenging me each day. Friendly competition is defiantly motivating! My friend is a waitress so she is on her feet all day – I will really have to work it to keep up with her!!

The sleep tracking is quite interesting as well and I am also going to challenge myself to ensure I get enough sleep on a daily basis. I will need the rest so that I have the energy to step it up during the day!

There is still lots for me to learn – but so far - this is a fun new tool that I do believe is going to help me get in shape and stay in shape!

In 3.5 days I have tracked 27,233 steps, and climbed 43 flights of stairs – and this doesn’t count today yet!

Gotta go – my flower is wilting! LOL

    I just picked up a fitbit this week - I love mine too! Its awesome how the two websites (Sparkpeople.com and fitbit.com) both share information so you can benefit from what each of the sites offer! I even wear mine to sleep so I can monitor that as well...amazing how it can track if you've had a restful night.

    So glad you are enjoying it. It's a gamechanger, isn't it? I work a desk job too and I wasn't nearly aware at how sedentary I was until I started using it.
