Experiment failure... but not in a bad way

Friday, August 09, 2013

Today was supposed to be an experiment. I had a ton of fruit (literally, a metric ton... ok, maybe figuratively, but still... I digress), cauliflower and tilapia for lunch, and my only starchy food was to be my breakfast (yay, oatmeal and banana!). The experiment was designed to see if I could survive without a specifically starchy component to my lunch. I want to attempt to increase my protein ratio in my diet (ha! Fruit, my favourite snack, is all carbs. Oops), so I thought I'd see if I could eliminate a starchy food at lunch. That failed.

One of our students brought in cheesecake and almond cookies due to her leaving (sad: nice girl!), so I partook. Not outlandishly, but I had a cookie (yum!) and some cheesecake.

When lunchtime came around, I had been snacking on my cherries (as planned), so I wasn't hungry. No salad. No fish. No cauliflower. I decided that I'd wait until I was hungry before I ate, given that I'm doing quite the spiffy dinner at an Italian restaurant tonight.

It is now 3:30. My tummy is making mild rumblings, but nothing my apple couldn't quench. Dinner is in 2 hours.

So, into the fridge goes my lunch, and off to buy climbing shoes I go!

These ones. In a size 6 (I think) www.mec.ca/product/5012-
. They've been specially ordered for me to try on. I think I'm in love!

Climbing tonight! WOO! Then karaoke (potentially, unless a certain Boy decides that laundry is lame and he wants to come out and/or for me to go there).

Small sad: He's going to be gone for a week soon because some big shots in tech want to buy the program he's writing/managing the creation of. Upside: he might come home with ridiculous amounts of money. Downside: he'll not be here. *sigh* I'm so put upon!

Hope everyone has a phenomenal weekend!

What! No-one has responded yet. Wait, that means me too.

I'm sorry. emoticon No, really, I am sorry. Saw your post the other day, didn't respond at first, and then messed up and missed it for a little while.

The no starch thing for me is impossible at night, which is your dinner. Couple things I've done to help out is baked potato chips toped with some tuna salad. I'll mix the tuna with spices, light mayo and/or light ranch. The salt and crunch helps fool the body into thinking it's getting more. Wish I could help more but I'm a carbs and protein guy. I make about 6 cups of granola for myself each week.

    Keep climbing. emoticon
