Accountability Partner-Get One!

Tuesday, August 06, 2013

Recently I was challenged to bring accountability into my weight loss journey. Being willing to ask someone to hold me accountable for the choices I make in this process is not an easy thing for me to do. I'm the kind of person that is always willing to help others, but I find it very difficult to ask for help for myself.

For some of us, accountability is getting on the scale in a meeting room each week, but many are doing this online only. What I've learned is that if you think you only have to answer to yourself, if you fail, then only you know about it and failure isn't so bad. If you want to quit, who cares? Right? But if you have an accountability partner, someone other than yourself to answer to, quiting is quite so easy. They can also be there to support you, lend an ear, or give advice. Sometimes just knowing that you aren't going through this process alone can make all the difference.

So I challenge all of you to find someone other than yourself to be accountable to. I bet it will make a difference.
