Happiness Experiment - Day 15 (of 21)

Monday, August 05, 2013

1. I am thankful that I'm on vacation this week! I took the week off to be with my kids during their first week of school. They start on Wednesday and my youngest is starting Kindergarten (he's never even been in preschool). This is also the first week I've ever had kids 24/7 without a "break" while I'm at work. Nervous and excited about that.

2. I'm thankful for a wonderful weekend, spent with close friends, great food, lovely cocktails, board games, and ridiculous amounts of laughter.

3. I am thankful that the rent for August is officially paid. Just one more month of rent here and then I'll be moving in to a bigger place with the love of my life. Cannot wait!

Saturday was pretty mellow. Slept in very late, woke up slowly and Mr. T made me an amazing breakfast (Lemony Cream Cheese Blueberry Pancakes with a fresh peach/blueberry compote) and coffee. We spent some time cleaning the apartment, went to the grocery store for a few things for dinner, then spent the afternoon preparing for a "Family Dinner" with close friends. It was on the way to the grocery store that I felt overwhelmingly blessed. I have never enjoyed the mundane things of life...the everyday chores and activities as much as I have these past few months with Mr. T. The whole world looks different when you have the greatest man alive by your side. So thankful.

Got it done. :)

Interesting timing...I read about the Oprah Winfrey/Deepak Chopra 21-Day Meditation Challenge a couple days ago. It's a 21-day guided meditation and it's supposed to focus on Miraculous Relationships. And it's FREE! And it started today.

I've never really done this type of thing b/c my background is more Christian and less new age, but I thought I'd check it out.

Here's a link if you are interested:

Today's centering thought: I am open to the presence of miracles.

It was interesting. Very nice and peaceful and only took about 15 mins. Looking forward to more to see if it helps to change my overall demeanor and helps me get a bit more centered.
