Why can I never come up with a catchy title?

Monday, August 05, 2013

I was up early today to make the 10:00 PC Fit class -- well, it was early for me. I usually get up at 7:30, but couldn't seem to make it out of bed until 8:40 or so. I decided to "skip" breakfast and workout, then eat when I came home. I also thought I would see how it worked out... That way, if I ate later I would be ravenous later on (more on that in a moment)

Class was awesome - we did a lot of great stuff. Coach Tyler's classes are awesome.

After class I went to the grocery store. My boyfriend likes Van-O Lunch crackers. I went to 4 different grocery stores and no one had them in stock. I found them at the Dollar General finally. It was a pain in the rump driving all around Blair County looking for lunch crackers.

I ate when I got home. Here it is about 2 1/2 hours after, and I am starving again. Our bariatric coordinator says that the body only gets hunger"signals" from the brain 4 times a day. I call shenanigans on that because I am starving. Ever since I started PC Fit, my body seems like a furnace with an open draft. I try to pick good, solid foods to keep me full, but sometimes it seems like I am bottomless.

I am not sure if I will eat before or after my morning PC Fit classes. I seemed to be fine either way, and am still hungry so...

I have to work all night - it is going to be long

Shenanigans...I love that word. I'm with you. That may be a nice average statistic for some group of people somewhere, but we WLS patients are hardly average. As long as you're sure it's body hunger and not mind hunger, satisfy it, especially if you're very active.

I eat while exercising. I know it is weird, but I had to train myself to do it because I have to eat every two hours, RD's orders. Spinning starts 08h00, and that is when I have to eat.
So I would take small pieces of pear or other soft fruit during spinning class or even when doing weights. (Think Tour de France and all the eating they do on the bike)
It does not bug me. And most people don't even notice.

Am aware that it is weird, but it works for me.

My alarm went off this morning 30 minutes early. I checked and it was set correctly. Then I realized when I fixed the alarm I actually changed the time. HELLO...Any body home. So today when I finally got out of bed because My husbands alarm rang (It supposed to ring 15 minutes before my music comes on not after), I checked it all out and fixed it.

I too wondered about eat first or after. Some things I have read says eat after and burn body fat as fuel. My problems is I am eating so many less calories at meals and for the whole day, I wonder if I am more fatigued when I work out. I don't want to be too fatigued and then get hurt or have injury. I am watching this right now. Generally I work out after awaking in the morning and have not eaten since dinner or light snack if I had one. I'll have to blog about it when I decide?

I also don't believe that the body gets "hunger signals" four times a day. That should be connected to metabolism, what we eat, how much we eat when we eat, etc. I think we can control that with how we schedule our meals a bit to "train" our bodies. I know I'm hungry way more than 4 times/day and usually eat every 2 hours or so (a piece of fruit or cucumber slices or something).

Sounds like you had a great class today!
