A long day...

Friday, August 02, 2013

I got up early to go get my niece, Tigan, and start our trip to DC, but she wasn't up yet when I got there. My brother decided to treat us to breakfast at Denny's, so that ate up more time, then I realized I forgot my phone charger at home, so I had to go back and get that. I also remembered I had to go pick up a prescription that I had run out of... so another delay. We finally got on the road around 9:30am. I then drove for 5 hours through rural Pennsylvania. Roads weren't bad, with only a few construction delays. We stopped for groceries in Frederick, MD, and realized we would be driving on the Beltway during rush hour, so Tigan called a friend who invited us to meet her at a friend's farm and do some garden work in return for some fresh produce. We picked blackberries, zucchini, summer squash and cucumber for about an hour and a half. I only walked the dog for about 15 minutes this morning, because I knew my dad would walk him when I dropped him off. (BTW... I miss my dog, a whole lot!) So, add 14 minutes walking to the garden work, and I was still short on minutes to keep my fitness streak alive, so I did a little ST and yoga in my niece's room here in DC. I plan on going out walking tomorrow... and maybe for a run. I haven't decided about the run yet. The neighborhood her house is in looks okay, but I think I would like to walk and scope it out a little before going out running. She is off to a picnic with her friends tomorrow afternoon, so I will have all afternoon to myself in DC. I am thinking I will go see the monuments and walk on the National Mall. It has probably been at least 20 years since I have done any of that, and I doubt I appreciated it very much last time I was here.

My thoughts are wandering... please forgive me, my brain is fried from 8 hours in the truck.
