I had a groupon for an unlimited month of crossfit so I thought I'd give it a try. I watched youtube videos to see what to expect. I really wanted to be able to do it and I'm so mad at myself for quitting after only one class.

The first week we had 3 intro classes to learn proper form. I've been doing squats for years but never that low and for that long. I left the first night jelly legged and in pain. All through the first night I had terrible muscle cramps(dehydration?) and my legs were killing me.

Today is four days later and my legs are nearly normal except the super tightness in my knees. I think I was ashamed that I couldn't do it as well as my co-workers who went with me, so I stupidly squatted farther than my legs should.

I really don't like to give up on things but I didn't go back for fear of a permanent injury. My knees are pretty bad as is and I could just see me blowing a knee out. So, I've decided to try to work my way up to crossfit by way of they Y. I called the Y and they will give you a 3 day pass to make sure you like it. The one near me has tons of classes, pool, sauna. Even hot yoga which I've always wanted to try.

You tried that particular class and it wasn't for you - hardly the same thing as outright quitting! You did nothing to be ashamed of - you are you and know your limits and abilities. Your co-workers have different ones from you.

Whatever works for you that you like to do is what's gonna "get it" for you and ignite the fire within you to continue.

You got this - you're listening to your body. Can't ask for more than that!

I heard that crossfit was the best thing since sliced bread, so I researched it to see what it was. What it is, for me, is an injury waiting to happen. At my weight, toots, I would have to lose at least 50 pounds in order to even try crossfit. Once you're there, though, I'm sure you would have mind blowing results. It sucks to have to lose weight in order to exercise, though!
