July Coming To An End

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Well one of the goals i had for July was meal planning. Did good for the most part. Did have a couple days where I had to readjust, but all in all, a lot better than I expected. I set up a sheet that contains spaces for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Snacks for a week. On Sunday, I would look through freezer, refrigerator and cupboards and see what i had, then i would start planning from there. Of course for Monday's meals I had to go with what I had, but not usually a problem since I tend to stock pile :) I then would make a list of things i needed to pick up to finish off or do the meals planned for the rest of the week. I had made a master list of dinners that I can make and a list of breakfast combo's. This made it easier to plan because when i could just look at the master list and get some idea's. This helped me to stay on track a little better, especially on those days where going off track would of been soooo easy. It also helped me preplan to splurge. I know the weekends are bad for setting it up a head of time, i could plan on a light day, and have some calories to still splurge with...

The plan for August...well, i love to try new recipes, so my goal this coming month is to do just that. Make a Master list of recipes I want to try, then actually try a few. I may need to depudge a I am up to the challenge. I also want to put more recipes up in my SP recipes to make it easier for me to track. And finally, I find that if i surround myself with success, i tend to aim to succeed. I went through a phase where I would watch shows like Horders just because it motivated me to Hey, don't laugh, it worked... so this month i plan to find and read an inspirational spark story or blog every day. So, if you have any stories or blogs you think would help me, please, feel free to point the way :)

This year, by making plans and following through, I'm a lot better off than i was last year and the years before. And i have my SP friends to thank for pushing me along and holding me accountable....and for helping to make it so much easier with some wonderful suggestions :) I am ready for August and to adapt yet a couple more healthy habits into my days.

You have accomplished what I've been wanting to do for a long time - plan my weekly meals better. I've got so many cookbooks, including the SP book, and I really want to get organized and to eat a little better, as well as use some of the stockpile that I have. You have inspired me to get working on this for August. Thanks.

You are doing great. I need to work harder on planning meals, I am really bad at it, and it leads to too much eating out.

Excellent blog JoDee - keep up the good work!!!

A show I'm watching this summer isn't a new one - it's been on I think for a couple of years now, but I find it motivating - Tuesday nights on ABC at 8:00 p.m. EDT - Extreme Weight Loss Makeover Edition. Each episode covers an individual's weight loss journey and is much more realistic than The Biggest Loser in that they have a year to turn around their lives doing it in the real world. I think there may be only 3 episodes left, but it's still worth a look-see.
